Along with the beta weekend that opened today TERA released a new “playable prologue” for you run through when you make a new character. It starts you off at level 20, takes about 20 minutes, and introduces you to combat, questing, and the UI. You bounce back to level 1, with level 1 gear, when the prologue is finished.

Today’s vlog is a bit different. I show you guys what goes in to preparing to live stream a game! For me, anyway. XP My first day in the TERA beta (and first day streaming it) was yesterday so I made a vlog about getting all set up.

Allll of today’s gameplay is up on YouTube. Minus the 40 minutes of crashing and queues. I’m just going to set aside a day to stream queues for each new MMO. I always end up having a really good time with the chat room for however long it takes. ENJOY ALL OF MY ARCHERING. This game is gorgeous.

amg TERA today. Chris picked us up two pre-orders from Gamestop last night to give us access and in theory the servers go live iiiiiiiiiiiiin about two hours.
I think my main will be a male high elf. They look like such pretty ladies.

Man I’m SO glad they pushed back the release of this game. I played an archer at E3 and I’ve never been angrier at a game. The control system felt like nobody on the development team had ever played either an action game or an MMO before. NO STRAFE. No strafe and my class is ranged. Oh but you can hop back with the C button! That has a cooldown so the mob is already hitting you while you’re waiting for it to cool down. So your only option was to freaking turn around and run away.
I rarely get mad, especially in public. But I know I was harsh with the guy showing us the demo. The game itself is gorgeous. The graphics were mind blowing. I tried to zoom in so I could get a better look at my surroundings without my character in the way. BUT NOPE. You can’t zoom in to 1st person view. All I could do was zoom in so my camera changed angles and I had a screen full of ass.
There were a few other smaller points I found in my less than 10 minutes of playing the game but I couldn’t get over a lack of strafe in what’s supposed to be an ~*action*~ game. I’m really, really hoping this is fixed before release.
I want to love this game. I know I’ll play it regardless because I am an absolute sucker for amazing graphics. But please. Strafe. Come on. Action game. PvP focus. You can do it. It’s not hard. E and Q.
